MatchWorks Community Assistance

Venue: Various locations – Brunswick, Campbellfield, Craigieburn, Broadmeadows, Sunbury, Coburg, Coolaroo and Keilor East

Available Days: Monday - Friday

Tasks Include:

Participants can work with a range of Community Organisations in administration, retail, gardening & landscaping, maintenance, carer, reception, and childcare, supporting services provided by Community Organisations. Participants will be provided with one-on-one on-the-job training by their supervisor on site.

Tasks Include:

Participants will learn a variety of skills. There are three components to this activity: hospitality, gardening and administration. Participants will prepare lunches and food hampers for disadvantaged community organisations. Participants will also maintain the onsite garden and there are administrative opportunities within the community centre.

United Wood Restoration

Venue: AMES - Brunswick

Available Days: Thursday & Friday

Tasks Include:

Participants will repair and restore wooden furniture for pre-schools, schools and hospitals, gaining skills and work experience in carpentry and machinery operation while working within a workshop environment. Participants will be involved in all facets of this work, such as sanding, polishing, re-varnishing, reparing and building furniture.

As part of the training, AMES will deliver one module of Certificate II in Furniture Making - Follow safe work policies and practices in the workplace.

On-the-job training will cover cleaning, warehousing operations and using air tools for assembly work.
